LeDomaine Blanco de Guarda – Selected vintages (2016 – 2017 – 2018 – 2019 -2020)

Right at the heart of the Ribera del Duero is where o ur Blanco de Guarda LeDomaine is carefully created. A bold and intense white wine, and perfect for cellaring, it has made a name for itself in these renowned lands, more traditionally associated with red wine. Its history is the result of a marvellous coincidence, and it symbolises excellence, the inquisitive spirit and the deep respect for our historic terroir.Our Blanco de Guarda LeDomaine has now reached its tenth vintage. To mark the occasion, we have created a unique case featuring its most characteristic vintages, those which best reflect its essence, journey and intensity, in all its fruitiness and freshness.

BLANCO DE GUARDA

This white wine, ideal for cellaring, is a true terroir wine. It is mostly composed of Sauvignon Blanc, along with a touch of Verdejo and a small mix of other white varieties, depending on the characteristics of each vintage. At 700 metres above sea level, the estate provides us with naturally low yields, with small bunches that truly make the most of the sunny Pago la Raya and the refraction of its sandy and pebbly soils. The chosen winemaking method is the one that gave us the best results during the many years of observation, with a slow fermentation that is finished off in barrels, and the stirring of the lees, for further unctuousness and complexity. The final resting period is between five and seven months, in both new barrels and ones used for previous vintages. Blanco de Guarda Le Domaine is a harmonious white wine, full of emotions. It is a faithful reflection of the personality of our terroir.

VINTAGE

2016 A vintage of extremes.

2017 A vintage of frosts and drought.

2018 A vintage that was cold at first, followed by plenty of sunshine: the year ended with generous ripening.

2019 A warm vintage, with excellent ripening.

2020 A superb vintage, rainier than previous years, thus maintaining the equilibrium.
