Calicata is the name for Abadía Retuerta’s new project. A magical space where you can extend your visit to the winery —or stay just to enjoy a unique place away from the city and the noise— and better understand the meanings of this land, Castilla y León and its wines. Calicata’s cuisine is a complement to the other two great restaurants of the hotel. Refectorio and Vinoteca. A terrace overlooking the Abadía Retuerta’s pine forest and vineyards.
Calicata is a technical term so much used by enologists to understand the soil where they grow their vineyards. Specifically, it is the examination of a soil by means of a borehole or a probe in order to know the minerals it contains. Metaphorically, we have done the same in Calicata. We have explored the land, the environment, the wines and the growers to offer the visitor a unique experience on the banks of the Douro River.
Everything in Calicata has a reason to be: the plates —designed by Marc Segarra; the furniture, the materials, the tableware and obviously, the wines. They are introduced as a game, allowing their approach from different angles.

A simple, light menu — typical and yet sophisticated. It is conceived to be taken in the terrace during the months the weather allows for it.
Open from April to October, at noon, during lunch service*.
