Wine Garnacha Roya 2021 0,75L

Reasons for study:

• Observe different types of Garnacha varieties. Most of them come from the low mountains of Navarra, mostlyred, but there are also some Garnacha Blanca plants.

Initial conclusions:

• In the current conditions, this variety has adapted to the Duero Valley, as long as yields are controlled.

Key aspects:

• It is the result of a blend of white grapes and rust, which gives it a beautiful colour.
• It is a variety that adapts to very warm climates.
• It is cultivated in the south-east of France and in the north-east of Spain, where it is originally from.

The mix of white and roya grapes gives this wine its beautiful colour. It is fragrant, with aromas of autumn leaves and fine notes of wild and aromatic herbs such as lavender, with a slight touch of menthol. Delicious on the palate, with a wellbalanced acidity. It tastes lightly spiced (thyme), with underlying flavours of strawberry cake. A gastronomic wine.

The 2021 vintage was initially marked by a lack of water in the ground. However, we managed to rectify with precision, plot by plot and row by row, during the green pruning process. The vineyard efficiently took advantage of the rare June rainfall. Furthermore, the average temperatures recorded in the summer were lower than previous years, and there were no extreme heatwaves. So, given these circumstances, the cycle was completed slowly, without any undue stress upon the vineyard. The first fortnight of September was hot, which was good for the grape ripening. The wines of this vintage are characterised by their good balance and aromatic complexity.
