Reasons for study:

• To observe how it adapts to our soil and climate.
• To bring further complexity of our white wine.

Initial conclusions:

It has a surprisingly aromatic complexity, unlike the more basic, terpenic aromas. This is a very early variety thatresponds well to Guyot-style vine training systems. Also, it appears that the soil’s limestone content is what makesthis variety particularly aromatic.

Key aspects:

  • The grapes are pink in colour, with an incredibly short period between veraison and full ripeness.
  • This variety is widely cultivated in cold regions such as Alsace, Austria and Germany. Ideally, it can soon adaptwell to a short cycle, such as that of the Duero ValleyTASTING

Tasting Notes

A delicate and exceptionally aromatic wine. Its bouquet evokes vibrant notes of lychee and melon, along with smooth floral hints of white rose, all of which makes this a memorable experience. On the palate it is creamy, elegant and refined, with a well-balanced acidity that brings further freshness.

Vintage

In 2024, there was early budding in April, followed by intense frosts at the end of the month; this cold snap led to significant losses, especially in the Tempranillo vines and on the white-grape plot. Despite the fact that the water reserves had been at 100% since December 2023, there was scarce rainfall in the following months, which affected the water management. The cool climate in May and June pushed back the crop cycle, though the August heat did mitigate this to some extent. At the end of August, the rain and hail affected the plans for the harvesting, which was eventually carried out in early October. The yield was 30-40% lower compared to the average from previous years.
