Reasons for study:
• Observe different types of Garnacha varieties. Most of them come from the low mountains of Navarre, the majority red, but there are also some Garnacha Blanca and Garnacha Gris (Roya) plants.
Initial conclusions:
• It is a variety known as resistant to climate change. It has adapted to the new climatic conditions of the Duero Valley, as long as its yields are controlled.
Key aspects:
• It is the result of a blend of white grapes and roya, which gives it a beautiful colour.
• It is a variety that grows well in the Mediterranean area.
• It is cultivated in the southeast of France and in the northeast of Spain, where it originates.
• It provides pH and acidity balances, as well as a great aromatic complexity.
Delicate and well-balanced, this Garnacha seduces with its expression of fresh red fruit and its well-rounded, delicious flavours. It releases subtle notes of sweet liquorice that enhance its versatile and elegant character. An honest and refined version of the variety, perfect for enjoying at any time.
A long, complex grape harvest. The 2023 vintage was marked byhigh temperatures and drought. The hot weather in April led toearly budding, before the drastic fall in temperatures in Maycurbed the growth of the vines. There was still cloud cover andrainfall until mid-June, so the team had to carefully monitor anypossible outbreaks of disease in the plants. In the summer, theextreme heat came at the end of the cycle, but watering helpedkeep the situation under control. Then, practically at the start ofthe harvest, the rain came back again.
