Plenty to toast to at Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine

We raise our glasses to wish you all the very best for the new year. We are very happy to share with you the news that, despite the difficulties posed by the pandemic, Abadía Retuerta has consolidated its position in 2021 as one of Spain’s great experiential destinations. We look forward to welcoming you in 2022 with renewed energy.

The awards we have received this year help us in our efforts to ensure that any visit to our estate on the banks of the Duero River is memorable and unique. In 2021 we were chosen as the best experiential destination among over 400 hotels in 80 countries that are part of the Leading Hotels of The World collection. The «Remarkable Experiencies» award recognised the variety and singularity of the activities offered to our guests. The vast majority of them have been explained in detail in recent years in this blog.

Occasionally, we pull an ace out of our sleeve. Like the Efecto Mariposa live concert which marked the start of the summer evenings on the terrace of Calicata Terroir Bar. It was one of the highlights of the year at Abadía Retuerta.

As well as our experiences, one of our main priorities is our cuisine, which is increasingly focused on local flavours that capture the essence of the territory. We are therefore particularly proud that our Refectorio restaurant has renewed both the Michelin star awarded in 2014, which confirms the quality of the service and the dishes of chef Marc Segarra, and the green star, in recognition of our commitment to sustainability and the pursuit of environmentally friendly practices.

These efforts shine even more brightly in the context of a region increasingly focused on becoming a fine dining destination with three starred restaurants in the so-called Golden Mile of the Duero Valley. As well as Refectorio, the area now boasts Taller, at Bodegas Arzuaga, in the hands of Víctor Gutiérrez, and Ambivium, led by chef Cristóbal Muñoz at the Pago de Carraovejas winery in Peñafiel. All three restaurants have joined forces in the N-122 group, named after the main road that runs through the region. This partnership boosts the area’s profile significantly as it becomes a powerful attraction for visitors who are interested in nature, wine and fine dining. The fact that this initiative was named «Best Wine Tourism Experience» at the last edition of the IWC Merchant Awards Spain reinforces our vision.

Having Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine voted as «Best wine tourism hotel» at these internationally prestigious awards was the icing on the cake. There couldn’t be a better way to end the year.
