Our Corporate Social Responsibility 

“Corporate Social Responsibility means, for us, a certain way of being, understanding and behaving. It is about working in a coherent, transparent, ethical and responsible way, and becoming sustainable over time”, explains Enrique Valero, Managing Director of Abadía Retuerta.

As a project, Abadía Retuerta has its origins in wine. However, it has also become much more, driven by a passion to create a true destination of experiences based on a model of sustainable heritage management and local development. This can be achieved by generating employment, boosting the economy and promoting sustainable tourism.

Each year, Abadía Retuerta publishes its Corporate Social Responsibility Report under the criteria established by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), supported and linked to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.

ABADÍA RETUERTA PLC declares its commitment to the establishment and development of policies that promote equal treatment and opportunities for women and men, without discriminating, directly or indirectly, on the basis of sex. We endorse the uptaking of measures that bring about true equality within our organisation, whereby equal opportunities are a strategic principle of our Corporate and Human Resources Policy. This is in accordance with the definition as established in Organic Law 3/2007, of 22 March, for effective equality between women and men.

We accept and apply the principle of equal opportunities between women and men in all areas. This ranges from recruitment to promotion, including salary policy, training, working and employment conditions, occupational health, organisation of working time and work-life balance.

The principles set out, above, are enacted through an Equality Plan and the promotion of affirmative actions that improve our management system and guarantee an internal structure that is free of gender discrimination. We strive to contribute in the efforts to build a society in which equality is effective and real.

In recognition of this commitment, ABADÍA RETUERTA PLC received, in 2019, the Equal Opportunities between Women and Men in Business Award, as granted by the Provincial Council of Valladolid. The business has also been recognised as Outstanding by the Junta de Castilla y León, in recognition of its policies that aim to implement measures, improve processes and encourage good practice in terms of equal opportunities between women and men. Such measures include respecting the work-life balance, and the elimination of the gender pay gap.
