Welcome to Abadía Retuerta

Abadía Retuerta is a mute witness to history and a place where the land and the vine come together. The duty of our Duero Valley winery is to respect and preserve the legacy we have inherited in one of the top wine regions of Spain, our surroundings, the monastery and its wines. To return what we can to the earth, enhancing and increasing what we have so generously been given.

Our wines, made from a careful selection of the best grapes in our vineyards, are a bold commitment to terroir wines.

LeDomaine White

The white wine of this vintage is very aromatic. It has excellent acidity and is big and persistent in the mouth.

Pago Garduña

This single vineyard wine was produced exclusively with Syrah grapes. The vines are planted in bright, white limestone soil in the middle of pine trees that protect the vineyard from strong winds.

Pago Negralada

In our single vineyard wines we seek to bring out above all the true character of the terroir. Pago Negralada comes from a plot of Tempranillo, the noblest Spanish grape variety.

Pago Valdebellón

This wine with a great personality has been produced entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon variety grapes grown on a limestone-rich terroir blessed with its own microclimate.

Petit Verdot

The Petit Verdot – the most exotic of the Bordeaux grapevines – is the basis of this original wine. Normally used in small proportions to provide nerve to other varieties...

Selección Especial

This is our best-known wine worldwide. Produced from a selection of the best grapes from each of our vineyards, it combines the richness of a Tempranillo and the elegance of a Cabernet Sauvignon with the strength of a Syrah.

Abadía Retuerta

In an endeavour to establish Christianity in Castile during the Reconquest, the Count of Castile commissioned the construction of a series of convent-fortresses. As a result, in 1146, the Premonstratensian order built the monastery of Santa María de Retuerta in a beautiful enclave on the banks of the Duero River. The monks of the order of Saint Norbert were given terras et vineas (land and vines) in Duero Valley and the second abbot brought the first French grape varieties from Burgundy that were planted in this famour Spain wine region. Since then, the land of our estate has been dedicated to the vine, to silence and to devotion.
